4y - 70 = 12 y + 2
add 70 to both sides:
4y - 70 + 70 =12y + 2 +70
4y = 12 y + 72
Subtract 12 y from both sides:
4y - 12 y = 12 y + 72 - 12y
- 8y = 72
Divide both sides by - 8 :
-8y / 8 = 72 / 72
y = 72 / - 8
y = - 9
hope this helps!
