[tex]- x - 3 + \frac{3}{4} x = -5[/tex]
=> [tex]- ( x + 3 ) + \frac{3}{4} x = -5[/tex]
=> [tex]- x + \frac{3}{4} x = -5 + 3[/tex]
=> [tex]- \frac{1}{4} x = - 2[/tex]
=> [tex] x = (- 2) (- 4)[/tex]
=> x = 8
