Subtract 2 on both sides
[tex] \frac{2}{3} x + 2 - 2 = - \frac{2}{9} -2[/tex]
multiply 3/2 on both sides to isolate x
[tex] \frac{2}{3} x * \frac{3}{2} = - \frac{16}{9} * \frac{3}{2} [/tex]
Simplify to get your answer
[tex]x = -\frac{8}{3} [/tex]
