substitute in the above

[tex]-1.5=\frac{-8+2+(-6)+(-3)+4+5+(-1)+y}{8}[/tex][tex]-1.5=\frac{-7+y}{8}[/tex]

Multiply both-side of the equation by 8

[tex]-1.5(8)=-7+y[/tex][tex]-12=-7+y[/tex]

Add 7 to both-side of the equation

[tex]-12+7=y[/tex][tex]-5=y[/tex][tex]y=-5[/tex]
