You factor out an X out of 3x and x^2 so your next step would look like this
X(x-3)
Then you set both factors equal to zero
X=0 x-3=0
Add three to both sides
X=0 and x=3

You factor out x leaving you with x(x-3)=0.
You divide both side by x that leaves you with x-3=0.
You solve for x from there by adding three to both sides.
The answer is x=3
