Multiply the second equation by 3, so 4x-y=6 becomes 12x-3y=18.

x + 3y = -5
+ (12x-3y = 18)

13x = 13

So x = 1

Plug x = 1 into any of these, such as 1 + 3y = -5, which becomes 3y = -6, and then y = -2.
x = 1
y = -2
