What is the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)? A federal agency that regulates the stock market.
The SEC protects consumers using the stock market. By regulating everything that comes through it, they are able to protect investors, maintain fair markets and facilitate capital formation. Those who sell and trade securities use the SEC to make sure they are regulated.
